Christine Pyffer Brandt Charities Tournament: Introduction

The Christine Pyffer Brandt Charities were established in 1992 in fond memory of Christine Pyffer Brandt, a young, vibrant woman whose love of life and others found her involved in many causes she believed were important. Unfortunately for Christine and all who cared so deeply for her, she lost her battle with cancer in the prime of her life at the age of 39.

The proceeds of this charity go toward the permanent sponsorship of an apartment within the Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Coventry House. The Coventry House was established as a refuge for patients and family members during prolonged periods of cancer treatment.

The other beneficiary is the S.P.C.A. Helping Hands Pet Fund. This fund offers assistance to families for the care of their animal during unforeseen financial hardships.

In addition to these two ongoing beneficiaries, we have included Abington Memorial Hospital's Rosenfeld Cancer Center. Funds donated will go toward the needs that will provide immediate comfort to their cancer patients.

In the last fourteen years, over $115,000 has been raised. We need your continued support to assist those charities close to Christine's heart. Join us for a great day of golf, food, and camaraderie.
 
 

Tournament Prizes

There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd low net teams.  There will be a longest drive, straightest drive, and closest to the pin prize in both the male and female category.
 
 

Entry Fees

Entry fees are as follows:

  • HVGC Member - $55.00

  • HVGC Member Couple - $100.00

  • Nonmember - $75.00

  • Nonmember Couples - $140.00

Entry fees cover greens fees, golf cart, gift pack, prizes, and refreshments to be provided on the course during the tournament.  Fees also cover the pre-tournament mixer on Saturday, October 7.  Entry fees also include scats and mulligans on the day of the tournament.

Pre-Tournament Mixer

On Saturday, October 6, 2007, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM, there will be a pre-tournament mixer at the Horsham Valley Golf Club. Free beer, wine, soda, and hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. There will also be a silent auction of golf related merchandise
 
 

Tournament Day

The tournament format will consist of two net better balls out of four.  Each player will use 100% of their USGA handicap (to a maximum of 40). Although you can play with any foursome that you can arrange, players will be randomly assigned to teams after the start of play.  You will not know who you are teamed with until you finish your round. Consequently, it is important to remember to play out every hole - you may be one of the better balls in your team. 

Tournament day will begin on Sunday, October 7, 2007, at 7:00 AM with a continental breakfast and registration.  There will be a shotgun start at 8:00 AM. After the tournament, there will be a barbecue luncheon at 12:30 and an awards ceremony at 1:30. Chipping Contest On Hole #18 after golf.

$100.00 Hole Sponsor

A sponsor’s name is displayed on a beautiful laminated sign, which is presented to the sponsor at the conclusion of the tournament. This sign is situated on a designated hole for all participants to view.

$25.00 Memorial and Honor Sponsor

A plaque, designating a loved one's name, is displayed on our beautiful sign located in the garden near the 18th hole, in view for all to see.

Certificate or Prize

A gift certificate or prize for the silent auction.
